ReFab Lab AB invites you to apply for a 5-week paid residency focused on material reuse, experimentation, and creative transformation. This residency offers the opportunity to explore the potential of discarded and found materials, challenging traditional art & design making practices while fostering dialogue about sustainability and waste in the creative process. 

The theme of Förnya is Creating New Narratives Through Material Reuse. Chosen participants are expected to create works that engage deeply with the theme of material reuse and experiment with material informing design and design informing material choices. All creations must be made from salvaged materials. The pieces created during the residency will be displayed on location at Lokstallarna for Southern Sweden Design Days 2025. During the event each participant will hold at least one public interactive workshop to share their process and involve the viewers.

The residency application is open to emerging and established artists/designers working across all disciplines, including but not limited to visual arts, form & function, sculpture, textiles, mixed media, installation, and digital art.

Applicants will be assessed based on:

• Relevance of your practice to the residency theme

• Innovative approaches to material reuse

• Feasibility of proposed project within the residency period

• How the work can translate into an interactive activity for the public during Southern Sweden Design Days​
